Emerging Technologies Training Program
Starting early in 2010, interested instructors, faculty, instructional designers and IT support personnel from Ontario colleges and universities will have access to a unique online training program on how to use emerging technologies to rapidly develop high quality, rich, interactive online courses and programs on a limited budget.
Contact North | Contact Nord is offering this service at no charge to its college and university partners.
Facilitated by Contact North | Contact Nord's Chief Innovation Officer, Dr. Stephen Murgatroyd, one of North America's leading expert on online education, this online training program will focus on instructional design, emerging learning technology platforms, rapid development of online courses and programs on a limited budget and the teaching and learning processes for online delivery.
Each of the four modules will comprise of a study guide, selected readings, online peer dialogue and instruction/support from Dr. Murgatroyd. It will be highly participative, engaging and make use of the most recent research and the sharing of best practices.
Participation in each module is limited to a maximum of twenty-five participants. The modules will be offered starting in February 2010.
As a result of pursuing these modules, participants will be able to:
- Identify the appropriate technologies for the delivery of programs and courses.
- Recognize how to evaluate different technologies.
- Recognize the implications of using technology for the design of learning and the delivery of curriculum.
- Recognize the implications of e-learning for the practice of teaching and the support of learning.

Registration for Modules 1 and 2 is closed. Registration continues to be available for Modules 3 and 4. There are no pre-requisites for this program and participants do not need to have taken Module 1 or Module 2 in order to participate in Module 3 or 4.
